Core Mission
The mission of the CCR Intravital Microscopy (IVM) Core is to advance cancer research by enabling NCI investigators to visualize and quantify dynamic tissue, cellular, sub-cellular, and molecular processes in live rodents under physiological and pathological conditions. The Core provides comprehensive, collaborative support—from experimental design, animal model development, and animal study proposals to animal handling, specialized surgical procedures, intravital imaging, and quantitative data analysis. Working closely with NCI investigators, the Core develops innovative imaging tools and analytical approaches tailored to their animal models and research objectives. These capabilities enable real-time investigation of tumor progression, metastasis, immune and microenvironmental interactions, and therapeutic responses.

See biology unfold across scales.
Intravital microscopy connects tissue architecture, individual-cell behavior, and sub-cellular dynamics in living systems.

What could you see in vivo?
Bring us your biological question and existing animal model. We’ll help evaluate feasibility and shape an imaging strategy.
