Background
Dr. Gil Kanfer is a data scientist specializing in machine learning, computer vision, and genetic perturbation data analysis. In 2016, he earned his PhD in Biochemistry from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland. From 2016 to 2024, Dr, Kanfer was a Post-doctoral fellow at NINDS (2016-2024), where he developed a novel pooled screening platform that integrates machine learning algorithms with automated high-speed imaging systems for functional genomic discoveries. Since joining HiTIF in 2024 as a Staff Scientist, Dr. Kanfer develops and applies spatial omics tools that bridge cutting-edge open source analysis frameworks with custom developed spatial statistics algorithms.
