To provide access to and direction in the very powerful and rapidly progressing techniques of confocal microcopy and live cell imaging thus enabling NCI scientists to rapidly advance in their research efforts.

Expertise

The Laboratory of Cancer Biology and Genetics Microscopy Core Facility provides state-of-the-art equipment, materials, and expertise to researchers in the LCBG. In addition, scientists in the NCI and other institutes routinely use the facility. The facility is a comprehensive unit that supports the researcher from experiment planning to preparation of figures for publication. Scientists using the core are trained in the techniques of specimen preparation, immunofluorescent staining and image acquisition using the appropriate equipment.

The Core is open to all NCI intramural researchers, although LCBG scientists have priority use of the equipment in the facility. Researchers from other institutes are also welcome to use the facility. Facility staff provides individual training for all new users. Core personnel assist with experimental design, data acquisition, and analysis. Unless special arrangements are made, the equipment in the facility may be used Monday to Friday, 10:00am – 6:00pm.
